Enlisted in 1777 for 3 years in Pennsylvania at the age of 16. He belonged to David Scott’s Company in the 13th Virginia Regiment, commanded by Col. John Gibson and was discharged by him for having served the whole service west of the mountains. He marched in McIntosch’s campaign; he assisted in building the forts of McIntosh and Lawrence on the Tuscarona river.He also assisted in building a four on the Allegheny River called Cutanian above Pittsburgh.(3) |

Enlisted in the State of Pennsylvania in 1775 in the Company Commanded by Capt. James Taylor and attached to the Regt. Commanded by Col. Anthony Wayne of the Continental Establishment and continued in the service of the United States until the summer of 1783 when he was discharged from service at Lancaster in the State of Pensylvania, that he was in the battles of Brandywine (where he was wounded in the left breast and ????which renders him incapable of manual labour) Peola [probably Paoli], and Monmoth.(W. 9096 & B.L.Wt. 959-100) |
