Promoting Patriotism
The Kentucky SAR promotes patriotism in a number of ways.

Kentucky SAR Color Guard
The Kentucky Society Color Guard, comprised of members throughout the state, is one of the most recognizable groups within the SAR. They make appearances in period attire in parades, living history events, patriot memorials, veteran events. Our members are prepared to discuss their patriot ancestor, or their uniforms and the equipment they carry, making them excellent ambassadors of the past.

Speakers Bureau
The Kentucky Society has several members that are considered to be subject matter experts on numerous topics ranging from historical or genealogical. These members are available to speak at events or schools to provide unique perspectives on a number of events or persons in American history.
For more information you may reach out to any State Society Officer.

Historical Events
The SAR chapters throughout Kentucky work tirelessly to honor our patriots who are buried here in our state. During a patriot memorial their biography is almost always a part of the event, placing the patriot in their own time and historical context. Each of these events offer an inspiring portrait of the life and times of a lost era.
There are other events, such as the Battle of Blue Licks Memorial event, where not only patriots, but whole battles and situations are remembered.

Living History Events
The SAR also has members that participate in Living History or Reenactment events all around the state. These types of events allow for a deeper experience of our history, resulting in a better understanding of the experiences and hardships of those that came before us. This can have a profound impact on a person's understanding of the events that led to our independence and the formation of our beloved nation.

Veteran Events
Members of the Kentucky SAR participate in Wreaths Across America, where an evergreen wreath is placed on every veteran's grave across the nation. We also take part
in our state's Honor Flights where veterans are provided opportunities to visit our nation's capitol and see our war memorials. We also participate in events with our local VFW and other veteran groups, helping in any way we are able.
