Patriot Flags and Flowers
Please consider joining the Lafayette Chapter – Sons of the American Revolution on Sunday June 29, 2025, for our Sixth Annual Patriot Flags and Flowers Walk at Lexington Cemetery.
There will be a short service that includes reading part of the Declaration of Independence, reading of Patriot/Wives names, wreath presentations, and flintlock salute.
Afterwards, we will walk and visit the graves of the 37 Patriots and their wives, placing both a flag and a flower. We will also stop by the grave of Mary Desha.
The walk from the ceremony site to the last grave/front of the cemetery is 1.25 miles. This route will go cross country through the graves. The return walk to the starting location is .65 miles. This is all on the road. The walk goes through areas of shade and no shade. If you plan on walking, please wear appropriate footwear, a hat, and be prepared to walk over varying terrain in the summer heat for up to 2 hours.
