Members of the Governor Isaac Shelby, Louisville-Thruston, and Lafayette Chapters of Kentucky SAR participated in the Kentucky Historical Society's "Founder's Day at the Jack Jouett House" event yesterday.  They provided demonstrations on writing implements, food preparation, and other household items commonly found in an 18th Century Kentucky home.

Members of three SAR chapters (Simon Kenton, Col. James Harrod, and Louisville-Thruston) joined the Lafayette Chapter to serve as the Color Guard at McConnell Springs for Lexington's 250th Anniversary celebration.   Continuing the celebration, the Lafayette Chapter dedicated a bench in honor of the occasion.  Other SAR members were involved in the reenactments and demonstrations performed throughout the Founder's Day event.

The Kentucky SAR Color Guard was very active throughout the state on Memorial Day.  The Sheltowee Trace Chapter marched in the Morehead Memorial Day Parade.  Color Guard Members were present at the Frankfort Cemetery during a Memorial Day event.  A group of Color Guardsmen were also present at an event at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville.

During the week of May 12th through May 19th, Kentucky was honored by a commemorative visit from the Marquis de Lafayette on the 200th anniversary of his tour through Kentucky in 1825.  Lafayette was the last surviving major military mind of the American Revolution, and in 1824 began a tour of twenty-four states; at this time, the whole of the nation.  He arrived in Kentucky during the month of May 1825, and visited Louisville, Frankfort, Lexington, Georgetown, Maysville, and then went on to other destinations.

Members of the Kentucky State Color Guard joined other groups in celebrating the 151st Kentucky Derby as we marched in the Pegasus Parade.  

Compatriots from all around the state joined in making the Coffman's Station School Day event in Anderson County a success.  More than 250 Fifth Graders converged on the Anderson County Fairgrounds and were exposed to many skillsets that may have seemed foreign to them, but were well known to our patriot ancestors and frontiersmen.  Fire-starting, spinning flax, quill writing, 18th century clothing and housewares were just some of the topics covered during this event.  

Several Kentucky SAR members went to the Boston Massachusetts area to participate in the Lexington250 and Concord250 events commemorating the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord.  In the photo from Left to Right:  Drew Hight, Mike King, Don Swearingen, Patrick Wesolosky, Rod Smothers, Jim Stinnett.  Also present but not pictured, Will McGinnis, Jr.

The Kentucky State Color Guard, comprised of members from chapters all around the state, presented the colors yesterday evening at the 128th Annual Kentucky Daughters of the American Revolution State Conference and Banquet. The event was held at the Hilton in downtown Lexington, Kentucky.  Chapters represented were Colonel James Harrod, Governor Isaac Shelby, Lafayette, Louisville-Thruston, and Simon Kenton Chapters.

The 2025 Annual Spring Meeting of the Kentucky SAR took place on March 8, 2025, at Louisville Kentucky's Sullivan University campus.
